Tentative 2013 Costume Plans
I’m feeling good about my craftsmanship skills to get all this done. Although sometimes I get really overwhelmed thinking about Operetta since she needs so much! Just all the makeup supplies I’ll need is a lot of stuff and that’s not even getting into other things like custom printed fabric. But anyone who knows me knows how much I love Monster High, so I really want to do what I can to cosplay her this year.

I started a new deviantArt account! I’ll be posting costumes on there. Feel free to watch me!
I spent the day hanging out at the gun range with one of the boss ladies and researching comic book and video game costumes for work. I may not make much but I really like what I do, and at least use one of my degrees.
Speaking of work, if anyone is looking to get a costume commissioned check out God Save the Queen Fashions! Just keep in mind that you need to book a slot in the schedule well ahead of time, and you get what you pay for when it comes to the quality of work and materials.
I’ve listed several costumes for sale at my Storenvy shop! It was hard to come to terms with the idea of parting with some of these, but I just don’t know when I would find the time to wear them again. Please help them find new homes! Also, some come with wigs, some don’t, some need other bits before they’d really be complete costumes, so make sure you read the descriptions!
Heads up! If anyone was planning on purchasing pony cosplay accessories at Dragon*Con from Yaya try and get to the booth soon after the dealers room opens Friday. We had to set a lot of product aside to send to a pony con that’s right after D*Con, so I don’t know how well pony bits will last this weekend. There’s also some special wings like Discord and Scootaloo that I believe are just going to the pony con and not D*Con, but you can always order them!
So if I haven’t been very active online lately that’s largely due to Dr. Strange and Clea sucking up tons of my free time. Here’s some progress pictures:
I made my mock-up for Clea out of snazzy palm tree print fabric. I made her leggings and turtleneck out of a metallic print and the leotard out of metallic fuschia stretch denim from Spandex World. I appliqued the symbol onto Allen’s Dr. Strange tunic. I also spent about a bajillion hours (it felt like it) painting gold satin then pressing it to turn it into the cape trim. I styled a Cady from Arda for his wig (mine is a silver Glinda). This weekend I attached the trim to the cape, put the collar together, and got the Cloak of Levitation just about done! Tomorrow I need to figure out just how to attach the Eye of Agamotto. And sometime soon I need to finish my gloves and sash.
Oh my goodness, it’s like they’re begging cosplayers to make these costumes!
Personally I’d love to cosplay Operetta, but I’m quite daunted by what an ordeal her makeup would be. I hope they do these for other characters since I’d be really interested in Ghoulia’s too!

I found a Deadpool Sunday during MegaCon and asked him to stop by the booth just so I could get a picture with him while I was in Siryn. Then I also got him to try on some of Yaya’s kitty ears we had for sale. I think they go with his suit quite well. ~_^
